Katalina Kicks heading for Croatia to play INmusic Festival

London-based four-piece Katalina Kicks were crowned the winner of this year's All About the Music competition at the live final in Sheffield on Sunday, 3 May. The band will now perform at INmusic Festival in Croatia this summer, joining acts such as Florence + the Machine, Placebo, Paolo Nutini, Of Monsters and Men and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club on the bill.

The competition was organised by festival travel company eufest and new music website DSCVR, in conjunction with INmusic, and was open to unsigned bands from across the UK. This year’s edition saw entries from hundreds of bands and artists, with five being selected to play at the final at the iconic Corporation in Sheffield, in front of a panel of judges from the music industry.

Katalina Kicks - with their gritty sound reminiscent of bands like The Strokes and The Clash - were deserved winners on the night, beating off competition from an incredibly strong line-up. Last year’s winners, electro-rock act Stop Drop Robot, rounded off the evening with a storming headline set.

“It was an absolutely amazing night,” said lead singer Ian George. “That was probably the strongest line up we have ever been on and all the bands that played were just mind-blowingly good, but all really nice guys as well.

“It still hasn’t quite sunk in that we are going to be playing such a massive festival, especially alongside one of my favourite bands Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, so we can’t wait to get over there, soak up the atmosphere and tear the stage up!"
