New festivals for Summer 2012

For summer 2012 we thought we’d like to offer you even more, and try out some exiting new European festivals. After doing a bit of research about the festivals that you want to get to, we have chosen Bilbao BBK Live in Spain, Hurricane and Southside in Germany, Frequency in Austria and B’est Fest in Romania. But that’s just the start of our list, so watch this space for even more new festivals on our website in the New Year......

Not sure which one tickles your fancy? Well here’s a little bit of information about each festival to help you out….

Bilbao BBK Live (12-14 July 2012)

  • Festival started in 2006 and now has over 100,000 people over the 3 days
  • Includes two dance tents, a pop tent, a chillout area, food stalls and a campsite
  • Doors open at 4pm every day, and close at 3am every night
  • 2011 line-up included acts such as Blondie, The Chemical brothers, Kasabian, Coldplay and Suede
  • Ticket price in 2011 was approx.  £96 for the whole three days, you will be able to buy your 2012 tickets from us shortly….
  • The free shuttle bus service to and from the city of Bibao throughout the festival means you can stay in a comfy hotel (a range of accommodation will be available on our website soon…..) and not have to worry about getting back each night
  • We will be providing bus transfers to and from Madrid Airport and Bordeaux Airport (they are both cheaper than flying direct to Bilbao)

 

Hurricane and Southside (22-24 June 2012)

  • Germany’s equivalent of Reading and Leeds, these two festivals take place on the same weekend, Hurricane is in the North of Germany and Southside…. well, need we explain?
  • Hurricane (began in 1997) is almost twice the size of Southside (born 2 years later), but the same acts play at both festivals
  • 2011 line-up included - Foo Fighters, Blink-182,  Arcade Fire,  Chemical Brothers,  Portishead,  Arctic Monkeys,  Elbow, Two Door Cinema Club and Friendly Fires
  • Both festivals are spread over three days with 2 stages and 2 tents, same line-ups, the usual food/booze etc. and bungee jumping!
  • The Southside festival site was a former military airbase
  • Nearest airport to Hurricane is Bremen, with Ryanair flights from Edinburgh, Stansted and Liverpool. You can also fly to Hamburg with easyjet, BA and Lufthansa
  • Nearest airport to Southside is Memmingen, which has flights Ryanair flights from Dublin, Edinburgh and Stansted. But Zurich (Switzerland) and Stuttgart are more popular for flights from the UK, and we will be doing bus transfers from both of these airports…..
  • Ticket prices in 2011 were approx. £115 for the whole 3 days

 

Frequency (dates for 2012 TBC)

  • FM4 Frequency Festival is a three day event (from 18 - 20 August in 2011, the 2012 dates are still TBC) held at Green Park, St. Pölten, in Austria. It began in 2000 and the line-ups get better every year
  • 2011 line-up included - Foo Fighters (surprise, surprise), Kasabian, Rise Against, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Kooks, The National, Beady Eye, Interpol, Feeder and Chase & Status
  • Ticket price in 2011 was approx. £111 for all three days
  • There are 7 stages showcasing around 100 acts, with the site split into two sections: ‘Daypark’ where the concerts will take place, and ‘Nightpark’ for after hour parties
  • This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area
  • There are regular flights from UK destinations to Vienna and we will be providing you with airport transfers
  • The first acts confirmed for 2012 are Blink 182, and Die Ärzte
