rock am ring

Rock am Ring is a massive rock festival which takes place at the famous Nurbergring Formula1 circuit in south-western Germany every year, and is attended by around 70,000 people. The event was launched in 1985 as a one-off party to celebrate the re-opening of the track, but quickly took on a life of its own - and has been rocking hard ever since.

The festival forms one half of Germany's biggest annual rock event, with its sister event, Rock im Park, being held simultaneously in Nurenburg - much like the twin-site festival at Reading and Leeds - and the line-ups for both are largely identical. With a strong emphasis on unearthing new talent the festival has long been a launchpad for previously unknown bands, and acts such as INXS and Alanis Morissette got their first big break there.

Headliners for the festival are always massive names, and those confirmed for this year include the Killers, Placebo and Slipknot, while Killswitch Engage, the Subways and Scouting for Girls are among the other acts already on the list. Never dull and never disappointing, Rock am Ring is guaranteed to rock your world, so be sure to book your tickets early.
