Information
Hurricane and Southside Festivals are the German equivalent of Leeds and Reading in the UK - two festivals that take place on the same weekend at opposite ends of the country, which have the same line ups, with the acts playing different dates at each festival.
Hurricane has taken place on the Eichenring, a motorcycle racetrack near Bremen in northern Germany, since 1997. The crowd size is restricted to 70,000 festivalgoers.
Southside Festival, which is often referred to as the ‘daughter’ of Hurricane, was launched in 2004. It takes place on the same three days as Hurricane at a former military airbase near Tuttlingen, in the very south of Germany.
With a mix of musical styles, a totally laid back atmosphere and a peaceful and upbeat spirit, Hurricane and Southside are becoming increasingly popular events for UK festivalgoers.
