EXIT originally began as a student protest against the government of Slobodan Milosevic in 2000. Since then, it has evolved into one of the most important events in the festival calendar, attracting over 150,000 visitors every year, and scooped the 'Best European Festival' title at the UK Festival Awards in 2007.
The legendary dance arena has played host to some of the world's leading DJs in recent years, and the sight of the sun coming up over the fortress to reveal thousands of festival goers still going strong is one that is guaranteed to take your breath away. The main stage has featured acts as diverse as the Sex Pistols and Snoop Dogg - and everything in between.
EXIT's stunning location, eclectic line-ups and full-on attitude have firmly established it as Europe's leading festival - and helped to put Serbia back on the map.
