The Haze - Unsigned UK band to open Croatian Festival
Unsigned British rock band The Haze, the winner of this year's All About the Music competition, will be performing at INmusic Festival in June.
The festival is Croatia’s most popular outdoor music event, attracting 25,000 people every year to Otok Jarun (The Island of Youth), and the line-up for 2016 includes acts such as Florence & The Machine, PJ Harvey, Jake Bugg, The Coral and Skunk Anansie.
The Haze are an energetic young rock 4-piece from Liverpool who play with a passion that is rarely seen in the modern rock genre. Their sound mixes powerful Stooges-style riffs with melodies characteristic of late-era Beatles. The band earned their place by winning the live final of the competition, which took place in Leamington Spa on Thursday 28 April.
Each of the five finalists performed a 15-minute set in front of a lively crowd - and a panel of judges from the music industry, who chose the Haze as the winners in the face of some stiff competition from the other acts. They will now open the Main Stage on the first night of the festival, which takes place from 20-22 June.
Sean Walsh, who plays guitar in the Haze, said “We are all really looking forward to this amazing opportunity. There were some great bands in the final, so it was fantastic to be chosen as the winners, and now we can’t wait to get out on the stage in Croatia and bring the noise!”
All About the Music is a competition open to unsigned bands from across the UK, which is run by festival travel company eufest in collaboration with INmusic. Last year’s winners were London-based rock band Katalina Kicks, who went down a storm with the festivalgoers – so much so that their track "Yeah Yeah Yeah" was chosen as the soundtrack to the festival’s official promotional video for 2016.
